An estimated 20 tons of cast iron and structural steel create this inviting subway entrance. The architect has established a well-appointed open-air “room” where playful animal silhouettes remind passersby that Prospect Park Zoo is only a short walk away.
Monumental cast iron entrance piers and panels were created for this subway entrance portal and plaza. All new construction -the project utilized classical elements combined with whimsical detailing to relate to the historic
character of local neighborhoods.
